Glossary
Exudate
Exudate is fluid that leaks out of blood vessels into nearby tissues as a result of inflammation or injury. It typically contains water, proteins, and cells, including white blood cells, and plays a role in the body’s healing process.
There are different types of exudate, each indicating the stage or severity of the healing or infection process:
-
Serous Exudate: Thin, clear, and watery, often seen in mild inflammation or during the early stages of healing.
-
Purulent Exudate (Pus): Thick, yellow, green, or brown, containing dead white blood cells and bacteria, often associated with infections.
-
Sanguineous Exudate: Red and bloody, indicating damage to blood vessels.
-
Serosanguineous Exudate: A mixture of serous fluid and blood, light pink in color.
-
Fibrinous Exudate: Thick and sticky, with high amounts of fibrin protein, often seen in more severe inflammation.
-
Hemorrhagic Exudate: Contains large amounts of red blood cells, typically seen with significant tissue injury.
Monitoring the type and amount of exudate is essential in wound care to assess healing and detect potential complications.
Impregnated Gauze Pad
A gauze pad pre-treated with active wound-healing compounds.
Medical Tape
A specialized adhesive tape used in healthcare settings to secure bandages, gauze, or other dressings to the skin. Medical tape is designed to be gentle, minimizing irritation while maintaining a strong hold, and is often hypoallergenic and breathable.
PDR (Proteinase Down Regulator )
An advanced wound care technology designed to promote faster healing and reduce complications in chronic and acute wounds. PDR utilizes proprietary formulations and techniques to enhance tissue regeneration, minimize scarring, and improve overall wound outcomes.
Sterile Gauze
Sterile Gloves
Gloves that are free of bacteria, viruses, and other microorganisms. Sterile gloves are used in medical procedures to maintain a clean environment, reduce the risk of infection, and protect both the patient and the wearer from contamination.
Sterile Saline Solution
A medical-grade solution of salt (sodium chloride) dissolved in water, sterilized to remove any bacteria or impurities. Sterile saline is used to clean wounds, flush out debris, and maintain a moist environment to promote healing.
